It's About Bloody Time and Space

چکیده

Time frames relationships of power, especially in the context law. One clearest ways which time is implicated both law and society via discourses about women’s biological functions. This Article an introduction to a larger project that analyzes legal regarding crucial aspect calendrically-associated functions: menstrual periods. Over course project, I explore menstruation through notion what literary theorist Mikhail Bakhtin calls “chronotopes”—a connectedness temporal spatial relationships. Temporality, argues, closely associated with certain paradigmatic spaces, combination shapes, ideologies, identities. Legal discussions bleeding are key sites for discursive creation maintenance ideologies womanhood. These appear wide variety contexts either explicitly reference or implicitly index female identity. All characterized by efforts mark them as narratives linked other temporally prior future moments, often indices chronologically spatially related stigmas taboos. While do not give complete account category “woman,” they provide cogent examples how womanhood constructed contexts.

متن کاملTime in the mind: using space to think about time.
How do we construct abstract ideas like justice, mathematics, or time-travel? In this paper we investigate whether mental representations that result from physical experience underlie people's more abstract mental representations, using the domains of space and time as a testbed. People often talk about time using spatial language (e.g., a long vacation, a short concert). Do people also think a...
متن کاملSome Algebras and Algorithms for Reasoning about Time and Space
Constraint networks over relation algebras are deened. Compass algebras are introduced for reasoning about space. They are related to the interval algebras, which are used for reasoning about time. The problem of determining whether a network has a closed zeroless reduction is shown to NP-complete for almost all compass and interval algebras. This implies constraint satisfaction for these algeb...
متن کاملDeveloping New Models to Reason about Time and Space
Cyber-physical systems (CPS) tightly integrate physical processes with cyber-control and monitoring. The difference between CPS and traditional embedded systems lies in the degree of integration of software systems with physical systems, the scale and complexity of the integrated systems, and the reliance on sensing, computation, and actuation via networks. New scientific foundations for specif...
متن کاملRelation Algebras for Reasoning about Time and Space
This paper presents a brief introduction to relation algebras, including some examples motivated by work in computer science, namely, the ‘interval algebras’, relation algebras that arose from James Allen’s work on temporal reasoning, and by ‘compass algebras’, which are designed for similar reasoning about space. One kind of reasoning problem, called a ‘constraint satisfaction problem’, can be...
